Hunting is fast becoming the greatest sporting attraction in South Africa.
The rugged beauty and diversity of plant and animal life in the Eastern Lowveld of South Africa and Mozambique provides the hunters with ample opportunity to experience a true African Hunting experience.
Rovuma Safaris offer our clients the opportunity to hunt the ethical and traditional way... on foot ... tracking your quarry down in an environment where it has all the advantages.
Hunting takes place on selected farms near Hoedspruit and Messina. All private land and it ranges from 1000 up to 3000 hectares.
CJ also has a Hunting concession in the GAZA Province of Mozambique. This is a pristine 34 000 hectares, all wild and free ranging, no fences. The good news is that it is only 140km north of South Africa's border within Mozambique. This concession is in partnership with Wayne Wagner. This hunting Company is known as Mutemba Safaris.
Trophies & Firearms
We offer approximately 24 species and we can assure you a Rowland Ward or SCI entry.
A hunter looking for respective heads can count on one trophy per day. We would personally recommend hunting on one on one basis for those requiring record book animals. It is also recommended to take a minimum of 14 days for any of the Big Five Trophies
We recommend the following calibers:
- Small Game 270+
- Medium Antelope 30 - 60+
- Large Antelope & Big Five 375 H&H and bigger

Climate & Clothing
Hunting can be conducted whole year round, but the best months are April to September. The days are mild but not too hot, while the temperature drops at night and early morning is chilly.
Bring along comfortable walking boots (high ankle), long sleeve shirts and a proper wide rimmed hat for protection against sunburn. Hunting uniforms can be natural brown and green tree pattern design.
Accommodation in South Africa is provided in luxury thatch hunting chalets with ensuite bathrooms and in thatch camps in Mozambique.

I met Phillip and Susan at Dallas Safari Club Convention in 2009. Later that year they visited Rovuma Safaris and while Phillip was hunting, Susan make use of the opportunity to visit the World Famous Kruger National Park doing the photographic option, shooting with her camera instead of a gun. They are both retired from USA Military as high ranking officers, and we consider ourselves lucky to have them as friends.
I met Tim & Janet in 1994, since then Tim has visited Rovuma Safaris several times over the years, and he has proven himself as one of the finest Bow Hunters in the hunting world. His
patience has paid off as he took a fantastic Dugga Boy 40" Cape Buffalo, and to make things even better during a morning sitting he killed three Baboons in a span of 90 mins. This is a remarkable achievement as a baboon normally looks through cover. Tim and Janet are surely living the African Dream, friends for life.
